Your Home

For your own home, you may want to select a wood more for aesthetic reasons than its ability to withstand wear and tear, for example pine or cherry. You may choose a high gloss or semi-gloss finish that you would be reluctant to put in a rental property.

 Investment Property

For a rental property you may want to consider a wood that is extra able to withstand traffic and wear, such as oak or maple. Using a natural oil finish will enable portions of the floor to be repaired and refinished instead of having to refinish the entire floor every time a tenant moves out.
